Surreptitious recording of a stop-question-and-frisk in New York
“The people are being hunted”. It’s not about protect and serve, it’s about hitting quotas and abusing power. Most officers are probably good, but the system is set up to punish them for not abusing their authority.
It’s those at the top (Ray Kelly, Bloomberg) that drive this phenomenon and need to be help accountable. There is no oversight and no recourse for a policeman who wants to do the right thing.
